Donation of the metal structures for two of the ten chapels included in the Vatican Pavilion at the 2018 Biennale: one designed by the British architect Norman Foster and one by the Australian architect Sean Godsell.
The Vatican City, for its first presence at International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, has asked ten notorious architects to develop the theme “chapels in the wood” basing on the Skogskapellet, a small wooden building blending with the surrounding and designed in 1920 by the Swedish architect Gunnar Asplund. General thinking associates religious spaces as enclosed buildings, while these chapels are intentionally outdoor and immersed in the wilderness of the San Giorgio Maggiore Island, in Venice, recalling the pilgrimage of the believer.
