The Bucharest Ring Road goes in parallel with the railway, hence suspended roundabouts allow to overcome the railway remaining on ground level allowing an easier flow of drivers in all directions, without traffic conflict or railroad crossings.
The Berceni suspended roundabout has been assembled on the ground and then lifted in its final position, starting from the roundabout itself and proceeding then with the ramps. Some of the most challenging liftings, considering the weight of the structure and the necessary distance to maintain, have been performed with a 600 tons crane.
