R3 BUILDING

The work consists of the expansion of StMicroelectronics’ production centres in Agrate Brianza, building R3 as a new centre for research and development of new technologies.
The building is 144 metres long and 65.9 metres wide and consists of 22 trusses with bolted joints, arranged at a pitch of about 7 metres from each other. The trusses were pre-assembled on the ground and raised from below into position using a 3,500-ton crane.
The structure will enable the multinational company specialising in the production of semiconductor electronic components to expand its 12-inch silicon wafer production lines.
